How is Online Tailoring Industry evolving in India?

Traditional tailors have remained a feature of Indian society for centuries together. We all know the name of that one particular traditional tailor in our colonies who has been stitching our clothes since childhood.
Before the 1990s, the garment industry was just limited to some small manufacturing units. And it was in the late 1990s when the garment industry started taking up.  However, there were only a few ready-to-wear options available to consumers, and the concept of standardization was missing from the industry.

Now with the expansion of national and international brands coupled with the evolution of the e-commerce market, the tailoring industry in recent years has evolved significantly.
Now you have a lot more choices available for every apparel in the market.  You can choose an online tailor of your choice and stitch clothes that fit you in every aspect. Though the concept of online tailoring in India is still in its early phase, the concept is evolving and outpacing the idea of a traditional tailoring system.
 Made-To-Measurement (MTM) and Bespoke Tailoring
Currently tailoring around the world, including in India, is done in two patterns: i.e.,   Made-to-Measurement (MTM) and bespoke tailoring. Made-to-Measure concept was there right from the beginning of the garment industry, now a new term is evolving fast, i.e., bespoke tailoring.
Bespoke tailoring means stitching customized clothes according to the specific needs of the user. An online tailor modifies the Made-to-Measure pattern to sew apparel for his/her customer.  The made-to-measure pattern is a fixed pattern that is created taking into account the parameters like age, height, size, gender, traditions, and various other factors.
Bespoke online tailoring is not just impacting the market of local traders but is also affecting the Made-to-Measure pattern of clothing. It is obvious nowadays people in India have a substantial amount of exposure to fashion trends.  A growing number of online tailors for stitching online clothes offer tailoring services in their retail fabric outlets. In the retail fabric outlets, the online tailors are trained in bespoke tailoring to provide customers with customizable clothing. Bespoke tailors take extra care to ensure the cloth is according to body specifications of the customer.  The ultimate motive is to provide customer satisfaction at any cost.
There is a tailoring segment called bespoke fashion tailors. There is another segment of tailors called luxury tailors who only stitch luxury clothes for fashion-conscious elite sections of society.
There is a growing conscience towards the color, fabric, design, and style.  The bespoke tailors ensure that the apparel they stitch suits the social status, personality, and occasion of the client.
A piece of clothing which is fashionable today becomes outdated the next day. The easy availability of clothes has also changed the behavior of customers. An onlinetailors into account every aspect of the garments to ensure they take away near-to-perfect dresses home.
